Founded by the early frontiersmen Simon Kenton and Daniel Boone, Maysville was pivotal in
the settlement of the Bluegrass Region of the state. It was also an important stop on the
Underground Railroad as slaves were fleeing to the free state of Ohio. Maysville has a rich
history that spans more than 230 years, and is also home to the pioneer village of Old
Washington.
